Abaxar connector setup

Connect Shopify

Shopify is the connector to set up first. It powers orders, revenue, profit, product, inventory and funnel reporting, and there is no approval wait at Shopify’s end: you create the app, install it on your store, and connect the same day.

Everything Abaxar asks for is read-only. It never holds the customer-list scope, and shopper contact details are dropped at the boundary before anything reaches your database.

Before you start

  • Shopify admin access for the store
  • The store’s *.myshopify.com domain (not the public storefront domain)
  • The Abaxar dashboard open at Settings → Connectors

The consoles you'll visit

Create the app

  1. Open the Shopify Dev Dashboard and sign in as an admin for the store’s organisation.
  2. Click Create app in the top-right.
  3. Name it something you’ll recognise later, then click Create.

Grant the scopes

On the create-version screen, open Access, then under Scopes click Select scopes. Copy the list below and paste it straight into the scope selector; it finds all six at once.

read_orders,read_all_orders,read_products,read_inventory,read_price_rules,read_shopify_payments_payouts

  • The last two are optional. read_price_rules adds the discount rules behind your codes; read_shopify_payments_payouts adds when payouts land and what fees came out. Skip them and Abaxar syncs exactly the same, with those two tables left empty.
  1. Click Done so the selected scopes appear in the access box.

Release and install

  1. Scroll to Release and click Release. If Shopify asks for a version name, the default is fine.
  2. Back on the app’s top-level page, scroll to Installs and click Install app, then choose your store.
  3. Shopify Admin opens to review the permissions. Click Install.

Copy the credentials

The value labelled Secret is the client secret, not an Admin API access token. Current Dev Dashboard apps never show a permanent token to copy: Abaxar exchanges the client ID and secret for a short-lived token itself and refreshes it automatically, so token rotation is expected behaviour, not a fault.

  1. Back in the Dev Dashboard, open the app’s Settings and find the Credentials section.
  2. Copy the Client ID.
  3. Copy the Secret.

Paste into Abaxar and verify

  1. In Abaxar, open Settings → Connectors. Shopify is the first card.
  2. SHOPIFY_STORE_DOMAIN gets the *.myshopify.com domain.
  3. Under Recommended authentication, paste the Client ID and Secret, then click Save Shopify keys. The card reads Credentials saved.
  4. Click Verify. Abaxar mints the API token from your credentials and calls the store; the card reads Verified with your store’s name.
  5. Choose the backfill window (the default requests the last 4 years) and click Run backfill. Progress shows at the top of the Connectors page and in Settings → Syncs.

If something looks wrong

  • Store not found: you’ve entered the public storefront domain. Use the *.myshopify.com one.
  • Shopify rejected the credentials: usually a missing read_all_orders scope, or scopes changed without reinstalling the app. Fix the scopes, release again, reinstall, then Verify again.
  • The two optional scopes can be added later: edit the scopes, reinstall on Shopify’s side, and the next sync fills the extra tables. Nothing needs reconfiguring in Abaxar.
